Pulse Marketing and Home Cinema Engineering Will Deliver ISF Video Certification and HAA Audio Training in the UK

The first course is 3rd March to 6th March in the West Midlands.  The ISF training will be delivered by Piers Clerk of Home Cinema Engineering and Gordon Fraser of Convergent AV. Gerry Lemay of the Home Acoustics Alliance is coming from America to deliver the HAA class.

Piers Clerk of Home Cinema Engineering explained the thinking behind these new courses.  “The custom install market is getting increasingly tough. Margins are being squeezed yet customers expect more for their money. Maintaining margin means looking to add value for the dealer and the consumer.  Calibration is the key area where value can be added, and we’re delighted that Pulse Marketing has chosen us for their training.”

Kapes Patel, Technical Director of Pulse Marketing added, “We supply high quality video products, but even the best equipment performs better properly calibrated to the exact environment where it is enjoyed. Achieving the best possible results for our dealers and their customers had to mean enlisting the services of Gordon Fraser from Convergent-AV and Piers Clerk from Home Cinema Engineering.  They have more experience of not just the ISF courses, but crucially of hands-on video calibration than anyone else in the UK.”

The courses cost a total of £1200 (VAT inc) per person for four days.  This price covers the cost of all refreshments during the day.  A special dinner, bed and breakfast rate of £85 per night has been agreed with the hotel for those requiring accommodation.

The courses lead to ISF and HAA certification upon successful completion of on-line exams.  These qualifications are fast becoming kite-marks for UK consumers to use when choosing AV dealers - particularly on larger installs.

The Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) has been instilling the importance of accurate display calibration since 1994. Their attack has been on two main fronts:

  • To persuade manufacturers of HDTVs to offer products which conform to industry standards and provide the controls to enable them to be precision calibrated to these standards. Runco products are a perfect example of ISF HDTVs that are “Engineered for Precision Calibration”
  • To train dealers and installers how to carry out the calibrations in a systematic and universally agreed manner in order to optimize the performance of the displays.

Joel Silver, Founder of the Imaging Science Foundation said “We have been happily supporting Runco globally since 1994. They are also our very First  ISFccc projector licensee. We are happy to see ISF certification training supporting Runco Dealers in the UK.”

The Home Acoustics Alliance (HAA) follow the same theme, this time with audio:

  • To select audio equipment that is technically good and able to be well configured.
  • To train installers how to set it up and optimize the listening environment.

Mike Beatty, managing director of Pulse Marketing stressed the commercial importance of these standards. ‘Working to internationally recognized standards of excellence is essential for consumers wishing to get 100% from their audio visual systems. Obviously dealer training is the key to optimizing both picture and sound, and it is proven worldwide to add to both dealer margin and end user satisfaction. With consumers now increasingly seeking out ISF and HAA certified installers, we’re confident these new courses that Piers, Gordon and Gerry have put together for us will do just that.’
